A pregnant woman lost her unborn child following a one-vehicle accident in Baker County Saturday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said this afternoon. Hedi Jones, 24, of Macclenny, was driving east on County Road 250 near County Road 229 about 6 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the road, overcorrected and traveled off the other shoulder. The vehicle then spun across the road again and hit a tree before overturning. Jones and her passenger, Caleb Higgins, 21, of Green Cove Springs, were able to escape the vehicle before it erupted in flames. Jones was taken by helicopter to Shands Jacksonville, where she was listed in serious condition. The Highway Patrol said her unborn child was pronounced dead at the hospital Saturday afternoon. Higgins suffered minor injuries. Both occupants were wearing seat belts, the Highway Patrol said.
